A theriotype is the real, earthly animal a therian identifies as — not a favorite animal or a costume, but a felt, non-physical part of who they are. This theriotype quiz asks about your instincts, comfort, and self-image, then reflects which animals — from wolves and foxes to ravens and big cats — you most align with.
Not on its own. A quiz can highlight patterns and point you toward animals worth reflecting on, but your theriotype isn't something a website decides for you. Many therians discover theirs slowly, through introspection, dreams, and shifts. Use this as a gentle starting point, then read the full theriotype guides & glossary.

The quiz has 24 short statements, shown ten at a time across three pages. For each one you pick a point on a seven-step scale that runs from "Not me at all" through "Sort of" in the middle to "That's so me". There are no trick questions and no time limit, and you can go back to change earlier answers before you see your results.
Each statement is linked to a few animals. "I come alive at night and feel calm in the dark", for example, counts toward owl, panther and a handful of others. Some statements also count against certain animals. Strongly preferring to roam alone, for instance, slightly lowers wolf and dog. Your middle "Sort of" answer counts as neutral. Answers toward "That's so me" add to the linked animals and answers toward "Not me at all" subtract from them.
At the end, each animal's total is compared with the highest total it could possibly have reached. That comparison gives you a percentage. Every animal is scored on its own, so the percentages don't add up to 100, and you can score highly for several animals at once.

Look at the shape of your results rather than just the top line. Here are some common patterns:
The statements are about temperament and instinct, and plenty of people who aren't therians share those traits. A high score for an animal means your answers resemble how people often describe that animal. It doesn't confirm an identity.
Use your top few results as a reading list. As you read, it helps to ask yourself:

A note on data: when you finish, your answers and scores are saved anonymously so we can see overall trends, like which results are most common. We don't attach a name, and we only have an email if you choose to type one into the optional sign-up box. See our privacy policy for details.
There are 24 statements, shown in three pages of up to ten. Most people finish in about five minutes.
Each animal is scored on its own against the highest score it could possibly get, so several animals can score high at once. The percentages show how well each animal fits, not a share of a whole.
Animals that score close together can swap places when a few answers shift slightly. If the same small group keeps coming up, that group is the useful signal. You can also read about polytherians and cladotherians.
The quiz covers seventeen of the most commonly discussed animals, but theriotypes can be any real, earthly animal. If yours isn't listed, your closest match may still have some overlap, and the theriotype guides explain how other therians describe their animals.
Many people taking the quiz feel a pull toward dragons, so dragon is included and clearly labelled as an otherkin (theriomythic) identity, not a theriotype.
No. The quiz shows which animal your answers lean toward, but it can't tell whether you identify as an animal. The Therian, Otherkin or Otherhearted? quiz looks at that question.
